Women's Health Q & A
Which women’s health services are available?
Express Family Clinic offers a variety of health services to address the specific needs of a woman, including:
- Mammograms
- Hormone therapy
- Gynecologic exams
- Reproductive disorders
- Pregnancy and childbirth
Dr. Modi and Dr. Parihar offer diagnostic and treatment services for girls in their developmental teenage years to women going through their menopausal phase of life. You can also expect comprehensive care for chronic conditions, including arthritis, osteoporosis, and depression.
When do I need a mammogram?
Unless you or close family members have a history of cancer, you can begin getting mammograms at the age of 40.
Mammograms are often the most effective method of early detection of breast abnormalities that may indicate breast cancer. The test involves digital X-ray images that show various views of your breast tissue. While not painful, mammograms can be uncomfortable but are highly reliable in detecting potential indications of cancer.
What is hormone therapy?
As you age, your hormone level production slows down, leading to a variety of symptoms, including missed periods, heavy periods, and chronic fatigue.
Hormones play vital roles in the proper functioning of your body, and when your levels fluctuate during perimenopause or drop off after menopause, you may not feel like yourself.
At Express Medical Clinic, Dr. Modi and Dr. Parihar may suggest hormone replacement therapy as an option to stabilize your hormone levels and improve your symptoms.
This type of treatment is often helpful during your transition to menopause, the time when your periods stop for good. You may also benefit from hormone therapy following a hysterectomy.
What is the benefit of annual gynecological exams?
Protecting your reproductive health is an integral part of women’s health care. Through regular gynecological exams, your Express Medical Clinic provider can monitor your reproductive health and screen for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), cervical and breast cancer, and other abnormalities.
During the exam, your Express Medical Clinic provider performs a physical evaluation of your reproductive organs, such as your uterus, cervix, and vagina. They also perform routine testing, such as Pap smears, to identify the presence of cancerous or precancerous cells.
Routine gynecology appointments are also an excellent time to start preparing your body for a future pregnancy. Dr. Modi and Dr. Parihar offer prenatal counseling to ensure your body is ready to support a healthy pregnancy.
